Trans cooler: beacause of the slip created by the torque converter, you generate more, and on any ATX, heat is an enemy. a good transcooler will mean the difference between a long lasting trans, and a dead one. transcoolers are cheap insurance. i recommend one for anybody who drives their auto hard.
Transfer gears: this is the one mod that will
imporve your cars time the most. by increasing the final drive, you'll see huge
imporvements over the stock gears. be forewarned, this isn't a mod for a novice.
(see the "How T-Gears work" and "how to install T-Gears"
text's in the "TEXT'S" section)
*NOTE: a
easier solution
but not as effective as TG's are to reduce the size of the tire you have. you
can use the 13" wheels (175/50R13 is one sample size). (5-lug cars will have to search out
for 13" wheels from base model Daytonas and Shadows, as all the neon 13"
wheels are 4-lug).
Shift Kit: the shift kit will increase shift firmness, and reduce the slip between gears. faster shifts means power gets the the ground sooner. less slip means less wear on the transmission. Best of all it's FREE!! Click here for info
Manual Valve Body: a manual valve body converts the standard "automatic" valve body, to full manual operation. this means that you have to shift gears yourself. this is different that just shifting manually as it allows you to hold low gears.(please note, that shifting manually in a stock valve body, will cause the valve body to be eaten up and your tranny to be destroyed in shirt order. To Read a text on WHY manually shifting is bad, (See the "TEXT'S" Section) the reverse pattern, also means that your shifting away from neutral, instead of towards it. (ie, the normal P-R-N-D-2-1 pattern now becomes P-R-N-1-2-3) the valve body cannot be purchased through Mopar Performance (P4349569). it is still available through TurboAction. it's listed as the "TorqueFlite 413". it is also posible to peform the shift kit mod, but you don't have to worry about the steel ball, or shuttle valve rod, and you only need to up the line pressure
LSD: a limited slip differential will increase traction at the line and remove "peg-legging" or only spinning one wheel. right now the only LSD's available is the Phantom Grip and the Futore Auto unit. (sorry, Quaife doesn't make one for our transmissions) this is just a mod for those that are making enough power to consistantly spin just one wheel. for most people, just playing with tire pressure will be sufficiant.
